Many people do not know that the
BlackBerry phone
has been around since 1999 making its debut in Germany. It is also know as a smartphone named so due to the functions that it provides such as text messaging, faxing, Web browsing, emailing, besides also being a mobile phone.
Corporations saw the BlackBerry Phone as a way to keep in-touch wherever they were, originally the phone was monochrome and used primarily as a mobile phone and a way to read emails on the go. BlackBerry Bold
9000 series of smartphones became available in 2008, making a bold statement that the BlackBerry can still compete in the cell phone market. With the 9000 series they started with the Bold 9000, 9650, 9700 and now the 9780, improving features with every new model. Some of the features on the Blackberry Bold 9780 include:

- Easy to use design and faster apps
- 3G connectivity
- Wi-Fi support
- Media Player
- Memory – comes with 512 MB on board and includes a 2 GB card
The BlackBerry Bold has many features that are just about the same such as they all have Wi-Fi, on the 3G network, GPS and video, what differs with the models are the amount of memory and megapixels in the camera. Since they have improved each model here are all of the other and they are still available so you can see what you need at a glance:
BlackBerry 9000 – 128 MB onboard – 1 GB Internal Memory – 2.0 MP camera
Blackberry 9650 – 512 MB onboard – 2 GB Internal Memory – 3.2 MP camera
BlackBerry 9700 – 256 MB onboard – 2 GB Internal Memory – 3.2 MP camera
BlackBerry 9780 – 512 MB onboard – 2 GB Internal Memory – 5.0 MP camera
The other differences include the design becoming more sleek and lighter in weight with the newer models and the resolution has also improved as well with the new models. The battery life has also improve from the Bold 9000 having talk time up to a little over 4 hours to increase by 1 hour with the 9650, to a 2 hour increase with the 9700 and 9780.
Regardless which BlackBerry Bold you choose, one thing to consider is that they are still on the 3G network so you will not be forced to add an overpriced data plan that some of the carriers offer. Once you get a smartphone that is on the 4G network, you do not have an option. Also with the Bold smart phones, you can buy them yourself without having to get locked into a couple of years of a wireless plan, you could do month to month if you prefer.
